REAR DIFFUSER. REAL RESULTS

A true rear diffuser engineered to generate real aerodynamic downforce, manufactured from aerospace-grade prepreg carbon fiber. Vortici is designed specifically for S550 and S650 Mustangs equipped with the GT350, GT500, Mach 1, or Dark Horse rear diffuser panel.

Real DownForce

Real Carbon,
Real Impact.

Vortici includes two rear diffusers—one left and one right—with two Venturi tunnels integrated into each diffuser. Together, they generate 30.48 pounds of downforce at 130 mph while producing just 8 pounds of drag, resulting in an impressive 3.79:1 downforce-to-drag ratio.

Inspired by the greats

I started designing rear diffusers back in 2005, when I first saw the rear diffuser of a 2005 Ford GT at the shop where I grew up. Its curved tunnels immediately caught my attention and led me to study the science behind Venturi tunnels, as well as Bernoulli's principle of shaping airflow to generate downforce.

That car became the inspiration for BTI Vortici.

Designed with those principles in mind, Vortici attaches to the factory rear diffuser and adds four Venturi tunnels beneath the vehicle. As air accelerates through the tunnels, the geometry generates multiple vortices that help create meaningful aerodynamic downforce while keeping the increase in drag remarkably low.

3d scanned for accuracy

To create Vortici, we started with the OEM rear diffuser panel. We 3D-scanned the factory panel to create an accurate digital model, ensuring that Vortici would achieve a precise, factory-level fit.

Venturis

Each Vortici tunnel is engineered to generate as much downforce as possible within its compact footprint, while minimizing the associated drag penalty. The tunnels accelerate and draw air from beneath the rear diffuser, shaping the airflow upward and generating two large counter-rotating vortices that produce additional downforce.

Low Profile Diffuser

When designing Vortici, we felt it was important to create a diffuser that you could actually live with every day. The goal was never to build the largest, most aggressive diffuser—one that extends far beyond the rear of the car and hangs millimeters from the ground.

Instead, we focused on creating a design that minimizes the compromise to ground clearance while still delivering a meaningful aerodynamic gain in downforce. Vortici was engineered to strike the balance between real-world usability and aerodynamic performance.

Real Data

BTI Vortici was tested at multiple speeds representative of cornering speeds experienced on racetracks around the world. Across every test condition, Vortici consistently achieved a 3.79:1 downforce-to-drag ratio, demonstrating its ability to generate substantial downforce with minimal aerodynamic drag

aerospace grade carbon fiber

Not all carbon fiber is the same

ac duct uses prepreg carbon fiber the same that is used in Formula 1 and planes like Airbus A400M, Boeing 787, FA-18 fighter, and the Eurofighter.

Prepreg carbon

Prepreg carbon fiber is the same class of material used in Formula 1 and other top-tier motorsports applications. Prepreg material arrives with a precisely controlled amount of thermoset resin already infused into the fabric—hence the name “prepreg.” This optimized resin-to-fiber ratio produces lighter, stronger, and more consistent components.

Prepreg carbon fiber also delivers two additional benefits: increased heat resistance and greater structural strength.
